VIC ICT for Women - Launch event

The VIC ICT for Women network was officially launched by the Minister for Information and Communication Technology, Marsha Thomson, on July 12, 2005.

The launch event, held at ANZ in Melbourne was attended by approximately 150 guests, representing a wide cross section of women working in IT at various levels, for public and private sector, across urban and regional Victoria.

Minister Marsha Thomson outlined the reasons a network is needed, cited statistics regarding women's participation levels and told us how during a business investment trip to India, with several of the board members, the inspiration for a network was born.

Nicole Dixon led an interactive session where guests were quizzed on their knowledge of the issues facing women in ICT and the name and logo were chosen for the network, with guests choosing from three options.

It was a great opportunity to introduce the network and the board to Victorian women in the industry and we were thrilled with the attendance and pledges of support that we received on the night.
