Inaugural Breakfast: 'Slowing Down to Achieve Work Life Balance
Vic ICT for Women hosted its inaugural breakfast event: 'Slowing Down' to achieve work/life balance on Friday 11 November.
The breakfast event, held at the Centre for Technology and Innovation Commercialisation in Melbourne was an early sell out with guests representing a wide cross section of the ICT industry at various levels, for public and private sector, across urban and regional Victoria.
Speakers Emily Ross (BRW), Edward Mandla (Australian Computer Society) and Melissa Burge (Slow Food Victoria) discussed the importance of slowing down in todays speed-obsessed, technology-driven society. Guests were entertained with anecdotes of nutwalks, the virtues of appreciating good produce and informed of the important work undertaken by the ACS in an effort to change corporate policies and government legislation to help ICT professionals, and Australians in general, to achieve the ever elusive work life balance.
At the conclusion of the presentations guests took advantage of the networking opportunity with many new connections made.
Vic ICT for Women is thrilled with the success of the event and is looking forward to working with the many people who expressed interest in being involved in our programs.
