Location: Deakin University, 221 Burwood Highway, Burwood
See that IT's possible - step into the 'Information Age' and realise your future
Why Go Girl?
The Go Girl Go for IT (GGGIT) program presents an opportunity for attendees to step into and experience the incredible range of vocational avenues that are available in the Information Age. The declining number of females studying business/IT at tertiary level indicates that girls aren't aware of the opportunities a career in IT can bring, or the important skills they have to bring to this industry.
What will happen at the Go Girl event?
At Go Girl 2010, students will hear from and have the opportunity to talk to talented young role models with IT careers. There will be access to a wealth of information that will assist students in making informed decisions about a career in IT.
The program is focused around three streams all referring to the them of "IT's Possible: Step into the 'Information Age' and realise your future".
The day includes a series of interactive presentations, and features a tradeshow where girls can talk in person to company representatives.
Entertainment is provided during lunchtime.
Who Should Attend?
The event is open to all secondary school girls from years 8 to 11. We encourage all students to attend, regardless of the subjects they are currently studying. It is also recommended that the following teachers/advisors attend:
Year 8, 9, 10, 11 Year Advisors
- Careers Advisors
- IT Teachers
- Business Teachers
Attendance at the event is free. Regional schools may also qualify for a grant to cover transport costs.
