Networking event:International Women's Day Breakfast

Vic ICT for Women and the ACS-W invites you to our upcoming joint networking breakfast event celebrating International Women's Day.

Join guest speakers Catherine Jaktman, Gartner Director Consulting (Asia Pacific)  and Renata Singer and Marion Webster, Co Founders of 'Fit for Work' as we celebrate International Women's Day. There will be ample networking time and we invite you to support Fit For Work by bringing an item of corporate clothing to donate.  See below for more information on each speaker and for registration please scroll to the bottom of the page.

Catherine Jaktman:

Catherine Jaktman is the National Vice President for the Australian Computer Society (ACS). In this role Catherine's focus in on ICT in the community supporting, ACS Women, Young People in Technology, academic boards and economic and industry policy. Catherine was awarded ACS Fellow for her contribution to the ICT community.   

Catherine has been working in the ICT industry for her entire career, which is a long, long, long time.  Catherine holds a B.S., M.S. and PhD in Computer Science.  Catherine is based in Canberra. Catherine is a Director for Gartner Consulting Asia-Pacific, and a casual lecturer at the Australian Defence Force Academy  . 

Renata Singer

Renata Singer, co-founded Fitted for Work after working with, and being inspired by, Bottomless Closet in New York City. Seeing the impact of this service on the life-chances of disadvantaged women in New York, she, and Marion Webster, determined that Australian women deserved a similarly innovative service.

As well as working with Fitted for Work and Bottomless Closet, Renata Singer is Chair of the Oxfam New York Committee. Her particular interest is projects on gender and job security and in June 2002 she travelled in Southern Africa visiting women's projects in South Africa and Mozambique. Her broad project-management experience was developed at: - Oxfam Australia, where she was the Publications Manager, - at the Ecumentical Migration Centre where she was the Manager of training, research and documentation, and - as a freelance social researcher and trainer. An experienced educator and trainer, she has recently developed and run programs for the Jewish Museum of Australia. Among her particular areas of expertise is "Managing Diversity".

Marion Webster

OAM was the founding Executive Director of the Australian Association of Philanthropy 1988-91 (now Philanthropy Australia) and led the ANZ Charitable Trusts (the major trustee bank in Australia) for over five years, firstly as National Manager - Charitable Trusts and then Manager - Corporate Relations.

Central to the development of the first independent community foundation in Australia, the Melbourne Community Foundation, she is a founding director of the Foundation and currently its Chair. She has been instrumental in growing the Foundation to over $24 million in its first nine years of operation.

Marion has also worked in the areas of child, family, and migrant welfare and advocacy. She serves on the Boards of a number of community organisations, across welfare, the arts, medical research, international relations and philanthropy. Marion is the immediate past chair of Disability Employment Action Centre (DEAC), and Sacred Heart Mission, St Kilda, Patron of Melbourne Early Music, Deputy Chair of 45downstairs, a visual arts and performance company, a Board Member of the Butterfly Foundation and Academia Arcadia and a director of WWW Communications, a social policy and philanthropic consulting company.

In 2003 she was Locum Director, Community Foundation Network, United Kingdom and completed a Senior Fellowship with the City University of New York studying community foundation sustainability.

In January 2004, Marion was awarded an OAM for her services to philanthropy and the community.
